Join us for the 2025 SWS AAPG Annual Convention and celebrate the Centennial Anniversary for the Fort Worth Geological Society!
 
We want you to be a part of this special occasion as we reflect on the past and look forward to the future. Our Technical Program is designed to provide attendees with the latest insights and developments in petroleum geology. We will be featuring informative sessions and engaging discussion led by industry experts.  Poster sessions will allow everyone to collaborate with students and researchers on innovative ideas, technologies and real world projects. And of course, we will have an unforgettable evening Social Event at the incredible TX Whiskey Ranch to celebrate the FWGS Centennial and expand your network.

This registration gives 1 unemployed person entrance into the convention for the short course, ice breaker, two days of technical talks, and a copy of the convention materials.

This registration gives 1 person entrance into the registration ice breaker, convention for 1 day and a copy of the convention materials.

Student Registration

This registration gives 1 student actively enrolled in a geology program or within 3 months of graduating without a paying job entrance into the full 3 days of the conference and a copy of the convention materials.  **A student event will also be held during the Monday Ice Breaker - be on the lookout for an email with more details after you register**

2025 SWS AAPG Convention Field Trips

Field Trip #1 - Saturday April 26th

DFW GEOLOGY TOUR - Saturday April 26th from 8 am-5pm. This one-day field course will focus on the two major regressive-transgressive cycles: Trinity sands through Grayson Marl in the Lower Cretaceous Comanchean and the Woodbine sands, Eagle Ford shales and Austin Chalk in the Upper Creataceous Gulfian. It will consist of 6-7 field stops (including lunch on the outcrop) and will highlight the variable sedimentology and paleontology of siliciclastic and carbonates. The trip begins west of Ft Worth in the Paluxy (Trinity) and the last stop will be in the Austin Chalk in South Dallas. The outcrops reveal shallow marine siliciclastics with excellent sedimentary and biogenic ( trace fossils) structures, marine transgrassive surfaces and fossils, Gulfian deeper marine flooding deposits of organic rich marls overlain by heavily bioturbated and structurally deformed chalks. This one day trip will cover a lot of ground and reveal some great geology in the metroplex Field trip leader is Dr Ignasio Pujana, Sedimentologist and Paleontologist from UT Dallas Co- leader will be Bo Henk, Sedimentologist and Ichnologist Adj Prof at TCU

Field Trip #2 - Sunday April 27th

​C.Y.O.A. CORE WORKSHOP Sunday April 27th, 2025 from 8-5. Early Bird Pricing Ends Feb 15th. This event will be an All-Day Come-and-Go Choose Your Own Adventure Core Workshop at the TCU Core Repository. Several cores will be laid out with researchers and results posted nearby. Food and drinks will be served with a catered lunch. Shuttle will be provided from the Oil Information Library of Ft. Worth near the convention and will be running all day.
